County of Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck, Munich and Starnberg (Germany)
The counties of Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck, Munich and Starnberg surround the metropolitan city of Munich and are currently facing several challenges due to rapidly growing population (eg. traffic, settlement pressure, etc.). These counties have a relatively good public transport system and they would like to improve their PT-mode share to reduce their traffic related CO2 emissions. In SaMBA, the aim is to do this by using innovative incentives and rewards. One of the measures includes the development of a standardized mobility package for all the counties in the MVV region. This package will not only have information on the existing local PT offers but also on all sustainable mobility options, as well as include, if available, walking and biking maps. This package will be based on the already existing new-citizens’ package from the city of Munich. This concept is based on the findings of many studies which suggest that people going through major changes in life (eg. moving to a new city) are more ready to change their (mobility) behavior on a long term basis. The effects of ‘gamification concept’ on mobility behavior will also be tested using the MUV App.
Regional natural Parc of Vercors (France)
The regional natural Park of Vercors, located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region close to Grenoble and Valence, is a low mountain area very attractive for outdoor activities for tourist and one day visitors. The goal of the Park is to reduce the number of cars on the road by increasing the number of persons in the cars. Carpooling and hitchhiking service are the main solutions. We plan to reach both inhabitants and tourists.
Concerning the inhabitants, the Park is working on the main brakes making people hesitating in sharing their car and prac-ticing hitchhiking. In order to encourage them, we develop specific communication tools, coaching and gratifications.
Concerning the tourists we are setting up a network of hosts and tourism professionals of the territory, to involve them in measures to make their customers come to Vercors with alternative mobility solutions (train, bus, car-pooling).
The Park is also working in collaboration with organizers of cultural and sportive events in order to encourage general public to use carpooling for coming to these events (reserved parking, gratification, etc).
“MADRE TERESA DI CALCUTTA” Hospital of the Municipalities ofEste and Monselice (Italy)
“Madre Teresa di Calcutta” Hospital is situated at the border of Este and Monselice in the south of province of Padova: it borders with the province of Rovigo, the province of Venice and the provinces of Vicenza and Verona.
The hospital structure is located on a total surface of 250.000 mqs and it serves an area of users of 46 municipalities or rather 186.000 inhabitants of this area: they constitute 20% of the population of the province of Padova.
The hospital structure provides 450 beds, 10 operating rooms, 1.850 external free parking space.
The structure also hosts the Nursing Course of the University of Padova that involves 200 students and the masters degree “Coordination of the healthcare careers” that involves 48 students.
The main aim of the pilot is increase the use of local public transport services even though there is free car parking.
The main activities of pilot case will be:
- Monitoring and evaluating at the beginning of the pilot;
- Communication among hospital employees during all the project period;
- Engagement of hospital trade unions;
- Surveys on the dissatisfaction of hospital employees and users of the public transports;
- Feedback collection surveys;
- Focus group with PT stakeholders to design targeted rewards and benefit strategies;
- Application of the strategies identified and behaviour change monitoring.
Refurbishment Friedrich-Inhauser-Street / Sanierung Friedrich-Inhauser-Straße and New building project Kendler parc / Bauprojekt Kendlerpark Salzburg (Austria)
The City of Salzburg will foster mobility behaviors change in two settlement projects, the refurbishment of the Friedrich-Inhauser-Straße and the new building project Kendlerpark. In both project 100-130 apartments are built or renovated and sustainable mobility alternatives are fostered like cycling (E-bikes, Cargo bikes), walking, local public transport, car sharing etc. Individual mobility advice, a mobility information brochure, mobility points where sharing offers are located and special mobility information events for the dwellers complemented by attractive incentives and rewards will be implemented to deliver a sophisticated and livable residential environment and city.
County of Emmendingen (Germany)
The county of Emmendingen, located in the south of Baden-Württemberg and close to the city of Freiburg, is interested in lowering its high dependency on private cars. In order to increase the use of sustainable transport options, the county will test the bicycle campaign City Cycling (STADTRADELN) developed by Climate Alliance.
The campaign aims to contribute to climate protection, set an example to promote cycling in municipalities – and ultimately encourage people to have fun cycling! As the local decision-makers for cycling infrastructure, local politicians should experience first-hand what it means to cycle in their own municipality, and help to initiate and implement measures to improve the situation for cyclists.
Municipality of Chieri (Italy)
The Municipality of Chieri is responsible for a pilot project focusing on the home to school trips from Chieri functional urban area to Chieri and from Chieri to Turin.
The project involves Chieri's school campus and over 2.500 students of “Augusto Monti” High School (scientific, classical and linguistic studies) and “Bernardo Vittone” High School (technical, agrarian, tourism, administrative and commercial studies).
The main activities of the pilot case are project promotion into the schools and users and stakeholders engagement (meetings with high school students, students' parents and teachers); co-creation with users of reward/pricing schemes (laboratories in the schools and agreements with retailers, restaurants, etc. of the city); implementation and monitoring, performed through H2020 MUV mobile application, of reward/pricing policies.
The objectives of the project are to reduce the use of cars and the number of home-school trips by car through the experimentation of single user or community rewards (i.e. per class) managed by the MUV app, and encourage students and their families to change their behavior towards sustainable and low-carbon mobility, with the aim of improving the liveability of the city, increasing the range of options perceived, given the fact that sustainable transport options are often not even seen as available choices, due to the gap in terms of time and comfort compared to the car.
City of Koper (SL)
Koper is located in the northern Istrian peninsula in the R Slovenia in the Coastal-Karst region. The Municipality of Koper is home to 52.234 inhabitants (2018), with above average population density of 6 inhabitants per square meter (the whole municipality). Koper has both: urban center as well as very rural dispersed settlements. The urban area city of Koper lies on 13 square kilometers with 25.000 inhabitants. The area of Municipality of Koper is characterized by a high density of national and local road networks. The city has well-organized public city transport in urban areas that the municipality can control and finance directly and by its own means. The basic problem regarding sustainable mobility is the missing connection among the city and the suburban areas or other municipalities, from which comes the extremely high daily work or school migration.
Measures to address this challenge will take place under the motto "Change the habit-gain the reward"
